DataStrobe is an AVR-controlled, Arduino-based POV toy that strobes LEDs to freeze characters on a spinning disk. The eventual goal is to have an array of LEDs all strobing together to produce messages and text effects. I’m thinking maybe “magic 8-ball”. This first video demonstrates how a single, 0.5W LED can freeze the text on a disk spinning at close to 3000 rpm (50x/sec).

Right click on the Text Layer and select “Rasterize Type” from the menu.
