Question by Nat: How do you create a gold text/image effect in Illustrator?
I have searched on google but haven’t found something good enough to use. Would appreciate if you could tell me how to create a gold effect or a GOOD link would be good too.

I have created a logo element in Illustrator and so i need it to be in gold as well as the text that goes with it.

Is it possible to create this in illustrator or would i have to use photoshop? I don’t really like using photoshop….

Firstly, Illustrator has a Metallic PMS color swatch set. Look through Illustrator’s help file on how to load the Metallic Swatches.

2ndly, google –> illustrator: gel tutorial
gel is like plastic toothpaste. it has transparent qualities. the gold sheen, on the other hand, would not. The metal would have layering like it takes with the gel. Metal is high contrast without transparency.

good luck. I like another tool called Xara to do this because of it’s real-time transparency adjustment tool. Keep on with what you are doing, but really, just look at the gallery at the link below.

Question by Vance: how to flip text upside down without using a generator?
there has to be some sort of source code that the generators use, so i was wondering if anybody knew it so i dont have to go to one of the generators everytime. thanks!

All the upside down generators use a conversion table which maps each normal character to an upside down equivalent. You can view a copy of this conversion table here: http://www.upsidedowntext.com/unicode

If you don’t want to use a generator you could save that conversion table to your hard drive and just open it up and manually look up the upside down conversion for each letter… but to honest it would probably be faster to just use the upside down generator as long as you have an internet connection.

Question by cassie.: i need a simple text generator please!?
i need a text/font generator that has just simple fonts like arial and verdana, not big graffiti letters or bubble letters.
i used to have a really good one, but the website dosent work anymore, and when i google “text generators” i just get a bunch of crappy ones.

i just need a simple one where i can easily make my texts like underlined, bold, smaller, bigger, etc.
